Nelle pompe, si tratta di uno spazio cavo in cui l'albero rotante entra nel corpo fisso della pompa. Sebbene il termine derivi dalla tenuta dell’albero che veniva pressata attorno all’albero per garantire l’ermeticità, oggi la scatola di tenuta di una pompa è spesso dotata di una tenuta meccanica, una tenuta a labbro o una tenuta O-Pro® al posto della tenuta convenzionale

What is a pump stuffing box?

In pumps, the stuffing box is the hollow space where the rotating shaft enters the stationary pump housing. While the term originated from shaft packing that was “stuffed” around the shaft to create a seal, today a pump’s stuffing box can be fitted with a mechanical seal, lip seal, or O-Pro® seal instead of packing.
