Volume flow rate (Q), also referred to as capacity, is the volume of liquid that travels through the pump in a given time (measured in gallons per minute or gpm). It defines the rate at which a pump can push fluid through the system.
For Viking Pumps, the material choice refers to the pressure containing component of the pump – the externals of the pump, like the casing. For our options, see our recommendations below.
Cast Iron | This is the economical wide range of non-corrosive applications material option.
Stainless Steel | For our corrosive applications, as well as lowest temperature liquids
Steel Externals | A common requirement for pumps handling petroleum based liquids, and offers higher temperature and strength solution than out other options
Ductile Iron | An intermediate option between cast iron and steel.
The shaft seal is the seal used to keep the liquid within the pump.
Packed | Economical option with no upper viscosity limit. Used to control and limit shaft liquid leakage. Simple, reliable shaft sealing. Resilient to a range of system conditions.
Lip Seals | An economical seal option for clean liquids at low pressures.
Mechanical | This includes a cartridge seal and/or component seal options. We recommend this seal for thin liquid application. It does a better job preventing leakage than a packed seal and offered in a wide range of materials for a wide range of applications, abrasive, corrosive, etc. Talk to you distributor about the multiple arrangements offered.
API 682 Seal | The most robust seal design available, this seal caters to the demands of petrochemical liquid sealing requirements.
Mag Drive | A sealless option for the highest leakage prevention available.
Viking offers solutions for temperature control.
Jacketed | A solution for room temperature solids or liquids requiring temperature control to reduce viscosity. This option includes chambers that surround the pump for the circulation of water, steam or hot oil.
Electric heat | Also for temperature control environments, this solution is used in applications where fluids like steam or hot oil are not available.
Close Coupled | For installations where space is limited, these pumps mount directly to the face of the motor.
